A space in Cirencester for community, arts, and events. 

‘The Bothy’ is a creative, flexible event space use in a variety of inspiring ways.  Neighbours, charities, community groups and artists are all welcome to use the bright and spacious room for such things as classes, talks, meetings, workshops, drop-in sessions and small scale events and exhibitions.

Organic Indigo and Japanese Shibori


March 3rd 2019 (limited spaces)

10am - 4pm

Explore indigo vat dyeing and shibori resist techniques to create beautiful patterned textiles. Learn traditional methods of shibori resist dyeing - folding, clamping, scrunching, and stitching create repeat patterns. A practical guide to how to create, dye with, maintain, and dispose of an organic indigo dye vat.

Please note that this workshop is held at The Tallet, Calmsden, Cirencester, Gloucestershire, GL7 5ET (10 mins from The Bothy)

An Introduction to Modern Calligraphy

May 4th 2019

10am - 12pm

During the session, key modern calligraphy basics will be covered; how to use tools, mark making, drills, and alphabet practices before moving onto words and phrases.

You will be giving demonstrations each step of the way, as well as being on hand for individual guidance.

The price of your ticket includes a starter kit full of the goodies you need to kick start your newly learnt skill. Refreshments are included.

Botanical and Floral Painting Workshop

April 13th 2019

10am - 11:30am

This workshop will focus on developing skills and applying techniques allowing you to grow in confidence and start to develop your own style..The workshop will start with a colour mixing demonstration allowing you to become familiar with the paint and different effects that can be created.
Then you'll learn how simple brush strokes can be used to create leaves, flowers and stems and how these can be ranged to create florals. We will also be covering other festive elements such as christmas trees, backdrops, florals, wording and more!

Emerging Futures:

Recovery Support Group

Every Wednesday 1.30 - 3.30pm and Thursday 11.15am - 1.15pm

A friendly and relaxed group for people affected by alcohol or drug use or any other addictive behavior. Meet other people going through similar situations, offer and receive support and look at solutions within the community.

7pm - 8.30pm

Providing a safe and supportive space in which people can be their selves and share their experiences. Dulcie and Lisa will encourage and support you by providing you with some simple tools to manage your state and give you a sense of being able to cope with life.

The Listening Heart - Grief & Loss Support Group:

Every 2nd Wednesday of the month

7pm - 8.30pm

Open to adults who have suffered a loss of any kind, from the death of a loved one to a divorce. A safe and confidential place for you to receive support and guidance.

The Repair Cafe:

Runs the last Saturday of every month

10am - 1pm

Bring along your stalled tech, your chilled toasters, your vacant button holes and we will do our very best to fix them or at least share your loss!

Learn to Upholster:

Join Claire, our expert upholsterer from Stargazey Workshops, for this fun course suitable for all abilities. You will be guided through the whole upholstery process from start to finish and have a beautiful piece of furniture to show for it at the end!

Just bring along your own stool or chair and fabric, all other materials can be provided by Claire at a small cost (unless you already have/would like to purchase your own)
